Frequently Asked Questions

Tutoring & Oxbridge Admissions FAQs

How do you prepare students for Oxford Materials Science interviews?

Preparation centres on unfamiliar Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science problems. Students practise explaining their reasoning aloud, responding to hints, making sensible assumptions and developing solutions collaboratively rather than memorising scripted answers.

Is there an admissions test for Oxford Materials Science?

For 2027 entry, Oxford states that Materials Science applicants do not need to take a written admissions test. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed online, so my Materials Science admissions preparation focuses particularly on interview-style problem-solving and communication.

Which ESAT modules do you tutor?

I offer ESAT preparation across Maths, Physics and Chemistry modules, with sessions focused on efficient problem-solving, unfamiliar questions and understanding the reasoning behind solutions.

Which A-Level subjects do you tutor?

I tutor A-Level Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, as well as the same core STEM subjects at GCSE level.

How much does tutoring cost?

One-to-one lessons are £60 for 60 minutes. Lesson preparation is tailored to the student, and relevant homework marking and admissions feedback can continue between sessions.
